DIAGNOSED ADHD

LOCATION ~ TR10

Dr Tanya Banfield is a Chartered Psychologist providing coaching, psychotherapy, consultation, and guidance since 2015. Prior to entering private practice in 2022, Tanya worked as a psychologist in several forensic and social justice and settings. Tanya specialises in working with people who identify as being neurodivergent. She also has a particular interest in working with people with combined diagnoses such as Autism and ADHD.

Being neurodivergent herself, Tanya has a unique ‘insider-insider’ perspective. She recognises that many individuals have not had access to formal diagnoses, and she is passionate about working with individuals who are going through the criminal justice system.

She has worked with neurodivergent adults within the criminal justice system to develop wellbeing, coping and resilience that altered their internal perspectives and view of the world on a long-term basis. Tanya designed and developed interventions that her clients were able to harness, develop and make their own. Her core values are centred around advocacy and inclusion. Tanya has extensive experience looking at offending behaviours and make sense of them from a neurodivergent perspective.

She has created detailed assessments and treatment plans for young people with a wide variety of mental health challenges in a range of settings from HM Prisons, probations and in the workplace. Tanya has spent six years working with neurodivergent offenders to rehabilitate them and develop the internal and external tools to seek, gain and sustain employment.

Tanya has spent her entire career helping individuals address issues including anxiety, stress, self-esteem, perfectionism, career changes, anger management, conflict resolution, depression, stress management and managing neurodivergency in the workplace.

Tanya is passionate about treating each client as unique and individual. She will work collaboratively to understand each clients situation, their backstory, their motivations and their subsequent behaviours.

Qualifications and Training: Tanya is qualified to doctorate level; she is a chartered psychologist with a specialist interest working with people who are neurodivergent and are caught up in the criminal justice system.  She is registered with the British Psychological Society and is also on the HCPC register.
