Becky-Jane grew up in a less than an ideal home environment so she very much understands children and adults who have not had the most supportive childhoods.

Even so, she tried very hard at school, but literally everything was a struggle and she found the masking exhausting.

Becky-Jane started to work in the community as a carer while in sixth form, planning to go to university to study paediatric nursing.  But remembering how hard she had found school, Becky-Jane decided to work full-time instead!

She then spent fifteen years working with children and adults in hospitals, schools and the community, frequently working with individuals with ADHD and Autism.  She discovered a love for working with people and knew that her vocation was to work with and help people.

During this time, Becky-Jane studied for a degree in Psychology.  Becky-Jane also took on responsibility for her younger brother who struggled to manage and study in school.  It was helping her brother 1-2-1 that made Becky-Jane realise that she wanted to work with individuals who struggle rather than in bigger groups.

When Becky-Jane had her son in 2013, it didn’t take long before signs of autism and ADHD were being recognised in him.  Her son’s diagnosis of both autism and ADHD led to her own adult diagnoses of ADHD and autism.  Suddenly all the struggles in her life up to that point made complete sense.

Since qualifying and working as a counsellor specialising in working with ADHD and autism, Becky-Jane decided to study a psychology masters which she is using to develop skills and knowledge around working therapeutically with ADHD and autism.

Becky-Jane works with children, adults, parents and families and enjoys working creatively too.  She isn’t afraid to work with different issues, to find new ways of doing things to help clients find new and more satisfying ways of living their life.
