Children’s ADHD Services
Clarity, support and a clear way forward for your child
If you strongly suspect your child may have ADHD but are struggling to get taken seriously by school, CAMHS or your GP, we can help.
When your child’s ADHD concerns are not being taken seriously
Why ADHD is so often missed or misdiagnosed
General Psychiatrists so often don’t understand the condition, and all too quickly fob you off with diagnoses of Generalised Anxiety or Global Development Delay. Older teens are consistently misdiagnosed with what used to be called Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and is now called Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD).
Why Headstuff ADHD Therapy is different
Headstuff understand the clear difference between these conditions and ADHD, as do the professionals we work with. We only work with Psychiatrists and Paediatricians who specialise in ADHD, so unlike general Psychiatrists, these professionals will always get it right.
Already been given a diagnosis you don’t agree with?
If your child has already been seen by CAMHS, please do still contact us. We work with parents and help them overturn incorrect diagnoses regularly. You know your child better than anybody else. If you are seeing signs of ADHD then you are probably right. Sometimes it’s a battle getting the professionals to believe you. This is where we can help.
You know when something isn't right
It’s hard to put into words, but you can see that they’re struggling.
You might be noticing:
● Big emotional reactions that feel difficult to manage
● Difficulties at school despite your child’s abilities
● Anxiety, shutdowns or avoidance
● Challenges with friendships or feeling ‘different’
● Behaviour that is misunderstood, labelled or constantly challenged
Maybe you’ve been told to “wait and see,” or that your child will “grow out of it” but your instincts are telling you otherwise. You’re probably right.
We are here to help you understand what’s really going on for your child, and find a way forward that helps them feel calmer, more confident and better supported in their everyday life.
ADHD therapy for children who feel misunderstood
Our ADHD therapists are all diagnosed ADHD themselves. This will mean a lot to your child.
If they have been seen by therapists before who haven’t understood ADHD and are outrightly refusing to see any counsellor or therapist ever again, we suggest you offer them a 30-minute taster session with one of our ADHD therapists.
Headstuff ADHD therapists do understand ADHD. So if it takes a bowl of chocolate ice cream or a few chocolate hobnobs to get your child through the door, so be it.
You won’t find any stuffy counsellors in blouses, twin sets and pearls. Nor with the dreaded scarf round the neck. Our counsellors are down to earth, normal and chatty. You’re far more likely to find us in jeans and t-shirts, especially when working with kids.
Neurodiversity Profiling pathways for your child
We offer a range of Neurodiversity Profiling pathways designed to explore your child’s needs. Not sure which service is right for your child?
You don’t need to figure it out on your own.
Some parents know exactly what they need. Others just know their child is struggling. Either way, every child is different and what works for one child may not work for another. That’s why we take the time to look beneath the surface and build a clear, meaningful picture of your child’s unique profile.
If you are unsure, get in touch and we will guide you.
Frequently asked questions about children’s ADHD services
What children's ADHD services do you offer?
We offer therapy, Neurodiversity Profiling pathways, parenting support and specialist ADHD support courses for children and families.
Headstuff ADHD Therapy provides a range of ADHD services for children, young people and adults.
How do I know if my child has ADHD or just anxiety?
ADHD and anxiety often look similar on the surface, and children with ADHD frequently develop anxiety too. General Psychiatrists often misdiagnose ADHD as anxiety, missing the root cause. Our Neurodiversity Profiling pathways help you understand what’s really going on.
At what age can a child be assessed for ADHD?
Do I need a formal diagnosis before getting ADHD support?
No. Many families come to us before any formal diagnosis. Our Neurodiversity Profiling pathways help you understand your child’s needs and decide what to do next. You don’t have to have it all worked out before you start.
What can I do if CAMHS says my child doesn't have ADHD?
Please do still contact us. We work with parents and help them overturn incorrect diagnoses regularly. You know your child better than anybody else and if you’re seeing signs of ADHD, you’re probably right.
Will my child actually engage with a therapist?
How much does ADHD support for children cost?
Every package is priced clearly on its own page, with no hidden extras. Pricing varies depending on the level of support your child needs. Take a look at the packages above or get in touch and we’ll help you find the right fit.
My teenager has been diagnosed with EUPD but I think it's ADHD. Can you help?
Yes. Older teens are consistently misdiagnosed with what used to be called Borderline Personality Disorder and is now called Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder. Headstuff understand the clear difference between this condition and ADHD, as do the specialist Psychiatrists and Paediatricians we work with.

What Parents Say
Hi Kelly, just wanted to let you know that the GP has made referrals from your report.
Our son has been referred to Occupational Therapy and also they asked for his ADHD assessment to be expedited.
Then the same day it’s come back from CAMHS that he meets the criteria for it to be expedited and they will be in touch.
It says on it they have your report so that is amazing. I think we likely will be moving schools too.
Thank you so much
Understanding ADHD has brought enormous peace to me as a mum and wife to an ADHD adult & two kids.
The pre-assessment with Kelly was very insightful and continued to trigger more light bulb moments. Kelly handled my son brilliantly, negotiating with him for his time and attention to get the information she needed. You can see why the Headstuff team having ADHD themselves is so important. The report back was detailed but easy to read and the school very appreciative of it. My son now knows he has this superpower, which he’s OK with although would prefer teleporting as his superpower!
Sonya was excellent at putting both me and my daughter at ease.
She engaged brilliantly with my daughter, whilst remaining professional and focused on the ADHD pre-assessment.
She was thorough, patient and friendly. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
I am convinced that the Headstuff pre-assessment report made a big difference as the Connors & Vanderbilt questionnaires returned by school now showed far greater evidence of ADHD traits.
My son received his ADHD diagnosis last Thursday which was just 2 months from the pre-assessment and I am over the moon. We will now be able to get him an EHCP and the help that he deserves. Our GP was able to take over shared care for the ADHD medication so my son is getting this on the NHS and has just started taking it.
