PROFILE

Nigel is a Masters-qualified counsellor and psychotherapist offering a warm, welcoming and non-judgmental place for adults and students navigating ADHD and neurodiversity.

With his own experience of ADHD and a partner with ADHD, he understands the daily realities of masking, burnout, and finding your place in a neurotypical world – whether that means struggles with focus, organisation, cultural identity, or the impact of neurodiversity within relationships.

Nigel’s passion for working with ADHD and neurodivergent clients is grounded in both professional expertise and lived experience. His own journey began during his counselling training, when insightful supervisors and personal relationships helped him recognise his own neurodiverse traits. He knows what it’s like to be the chatty, curious child – stopping police officers in the street to ask questions and argue his point – to becoming deeply absorbed in special interests, and to navigate environments that aren’t always designed for different ways of thinking.

With a background in Person-Centred Counselling, Nigel is committed to an empathetic and practical approach. He has supported clients through anxiety, depression, workplace and academic stress, bereavement, trauma, abuse, and more.

Nigel brings a wealth of counselling experience from across the charity sector, having worked extensively with organisations supporting people from all walks of life. This experience has deepened his understanding of the unique challenges faced by marginalised and underserved communities, including neurodivergent individuals, and has strengthened his commitment to accessible, inclusive care.

His work on projects with underprivileged youth is just one example of how he engages with those facing the greatest barriers. Nigel’s practice is rooted in cultural competency and a genuine understanding of intersectionality, welcoming clients from all backgrounds and recognising how culture, identity and neurodiversity intersect in complex ways.

He holds a degree in Biochemistry from the University of Liverpool and completed his Master of Science in Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Salford, graduating with distinction. His dissertation explored the use of AI chatbots in treating anxiety and depression, reflecting his commitment to staying at the forefront of both healthcare and technology.

This research was well received, earning him an invitation to present at a Graduate Research Conference. Nigel is also training to become a clinical supervisor, demonstrating his dedication to ongoing learning and professional development. This advanced training continues to sharpen his focus on cultural competency and equips him to challenge outdated prejudices in mental healthcare – including those that have historically overlooked or misunderstood ADHD and other forms of neurodiversity – ensuring his practice remains inclusive, current, and truly client-centred.

Beyond one-to-one counselling, Nigel has delivered workshops on productivity and wellbeing to large groups, and volunteered with The Stroke Association, helping people rebuild their lives after major change.

Outside of work, Nigel is always learning – he enjoys reading widely and keeping up with new ideas. He keeps fit, loves to travel, and cherishes time spent with loved ones, especially sharing meals together. He’s also passionate about cars, technology, and a good game of chess. Nigel believes everyone is more than a diagnosis and is devoted to helping each client discover and celebrate their unique strengths.

Nigel looks forward to supporting new clients.
