DIAGNOSED COMBINED ADHD & SON DIAGNOSED ADHD
LOCATION ~ SL6

Amanda has ADHD in her family and has for many years watched the struggles and challenges it has brought to young members of her family growing up. She feels very passionately that given the right support and understanding, ADHD teenagers can achieve just as much, if not more, than their peers. Too often though, lack of understanding and little or no support takes teenagers down the wrong path.

Amanda has extensive caring experience starting out her career as a qualified Staff Nurse, before becoming a mother, then finally training as a Therapist. She trained originally in Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy and more recently as a Rewind Therapist with The Human Givens College. She specialises in working with trauma.

Amanda is passionate about helping adolescents with ADHD. She saw for herself how easily her family members could’ve gone off the rails.  Amanda very much enjoys working with parents who have boys or girls with Inattentive or Combined ADHD, ASD, ODD and anxiety.

ADHD adults have a higher than average possibility of having suffered trauma as children. This sometimes unidentified trauma can leave them with inexplicable explosive anger, stress, anxiety, depression and a whole host of emotional issues. Young Offender Units and Adult Male Prisons are hotbeds for angry boys and men who often aren’t aware of, let alone managed to identify, the source of their anger.

Hypnotherapy is a very successful way of sourcing the root of these issues and dealing with them successfully. Amanda is passionate about the work she does and uses guided imagery with ADHD and ASD clients to help neutralise trauma and phobias swiftly using the Rewind technique.

Guided imagery is sometimes known as Visualisation or Hypnosis. Increasingly it is being recognised that by being in a relaxed and focused state and then rehearsing how you want a situation to be in the future, it makes it easier and more likely that this behaviour will become your new normal. Research has shown that ‘neurons in the brain that wire together – fire together’ and guided imagery allows this process to start. Just as with any skill, it needs practice if it is a behavioural feeling you want to develop. This is where Amanda comes in.

The Rewind science-based approach provides many different tools and techniques that can be used to assist a client to move forward as effectively and swiftly as possible. It is a synthesis of the best and most effective practice in current therapy and is constantly evolving and improving.

Amanda works with all trauma and PTSD/CPTSD and is also a Military Trauma specialist working with veterans, reservists and families who are struggling to re-integrate into a normal work and family life because of trauma suffered during service in the Armed Forces.

Amanda has extensive experience of working with clients who are experiencing flashbacks, nightmares and disturbed sleep. She also specialises in working with phobias, panic attacks, OCD, emotional abuse, domestic violence, sexual abuse, bereavement, addiction and low self-esteem.
