Adult ADHD Diagnosis

We Are Able To Assess And Diagnose ADHD In Adults

When you realise you might have ADHD, the first thing you want to do is find out for sure. ADHD people don’t have any patience and when we want to know something – we want to know now! So how infuriating the NHS waiting lists for ADHD Assessments are longer than for any other condition? It’s ironic and would be amusing if it wasn’t so frustrating.

You have options when you want to get assessed and potentially diagnosed and one of them is with a private diagnosis. We are incredibly lucky at Headstuff to have two kind, caring and compassionate qualified ADHD Assessors. Importantly, both of them are diagnosed ADHD themselves and know how it feels to be wondering if you have the condition and wanting clarity on the symptoms and issues you’ve been dealing with your whole life.

And with us, you have the choice of a male or a female assessor.

Aimee used to work for the NHS and ran an ADHD diagnostic service for several years.  Aaron is a qualified psychologist.

Both of them have completed formal training to assess and diagnose adults over the age of 18 with ADHD.

At the moment Aimee and Aaron cannot access children and they cannot assess for autism. Both of them are currently training to do this in the not too distant future.

However, if you are looking for a child assessment or an autistic assessment, please fill in our general contact form as we work very closely with other psychologists and psychiatrists who can.

If you have a child who is 17 wanting an ADHD assessment, you can book in advance with Aimee or Aaron so they have their assessment appointment as soon after their 18th birthday as you wish.

Aimee and Aaron don’t have long waiting lists. They should be able to see you within a week or two and most certainly within a month or two.

Your appointment will normally be online, although Aimee does offer some face-to-face appointments depending on your location. She is based in Herefordshire.

You will have a very thorough assessment, at the end of which you will be told whether or not you meet the diagnostic criteria for an official ADHD diagnosis.

We always recommend you complete several online screeners beforehand before booking an assessment as these are usually surprisingly  accurate and will give you a good idea if you have the condition in advance.

After your appointment, a maximum of eight weeks later, but often sooner, you will receive your full diagnostic report.

We always recommend you give a copy of this report to your NHS GP or if you have one, your private GP.

If then you want to consider the options for ADHD medication we work very closely with a private GP practice who offer a child and adult ADHD prescribing service.  All you will need is your official diagnosis letter and then you can book in direct to discuss medication and be prescribed medication privately – again with a very short waiting list. Usually a maximum of two weeks.

The private GP who provides this service is Dr Kris Holy at Doctor Now, Windsor End, Beaconsfield, Bucks, HP9 2JW. Telephone number 01494 410888.  You can see Dr Kris face-to-face or he also offers appointments online.

In an ideal world, all these services would be available from the NHS and we hope that in the not too distant future this will be the case.

But if you don’t want to wait on a 2 to 10 year NHS waiting list, we provide this much quicker and efficient service to help you get assessed, diagnosed and medicated as quickly as possible.
