Headstuff ADHD Therapy - Children's ADHD Services - Support For Children at Risk

Specialist support when things feel out of control

If your child’s behaviour has escalated to a level where there are concerns around safety, risk-taking or involvement with the Police, this can be an incredibly stressful and overwhelming time. Many families in this situation feel a profound sense of fear, uncertainty and things spiralling beyond control. We are here to help. This service is handled differently to our other support packages because the level of support required, and the sensitivity of the situation, demands it.

Who this support is for?

This service is for families dealing with situations that have moved beyond what feels manageable through everyday support. It’s often the right fit for families whose child:

Is engaging in illegal, risky or unsafe behaviours
Is making impulsive and dangerous decisions
Is involved in serious conflict at home, school or in the community
Has had contact with the Police or Youth Offending Services
  Has become involved with drugs
  Feels misunderstood, angry or disconnected

If you are finding yourself in any of these situations, please do get in touch with us soon as you can as we want to help.

How we can help

This support is provided by consultation rather than as a fixed package, because every family’s situation is different and the right help depends on what’s actually happening. Our work focuses on:

Understanding what is driving the behaviour and the risk-taking
Supporting your child’s emotional regulation and impulse control
Helping your child feel heard, understood and supported
Reducing escalation and promoting safer choices
●   Rebuilding a sense of stability and direction
●   Supporting parents with therapeutic, professional and legal support

Where appropriate, we can also support communication with schools, services and other professionals involved in your child’s care.

Supplementary Evidence Report

Where it’s appropriate to your situation, we can provide a supplementary evidence report. The report is written to a professional standard and may be used to:

Support communication with schools, local authorities or other services
Provide clear evidence of your child’s needs and challenges
Help with formal processes, including legal or court proceedings where required

The report outlines our observations and understanding of your child’s behaviour, the contributing factors, and our professional recommendations for support and intervention. This ensures your child’s experiences are clearly documented and understood, particularly in situations where decisions are being made about their care, education or safety.

Frequently asked questions

How quickly can you respond?

We respond to enquiries within 24 hours. When situations involve safety concerns or active risk, we understand the importance of moving quickly and we’ll prioritise getting back to you and arranging an initial conversation.

Is this confidential?

Yes. All work with families is confidential and handled with discretion. The only exception, which applies to all support services, is where we have safeguarding concerns about a child’s immediate safety. We’ll always be transparent with you about how we work and what’s involved.

Do you work with the Police, Social Services or Youth Offending Services?

Where it helps your child, yes. We can support communication with the services involved, attend meetings where appropriate, and provide a supplementary evidence report to help others understand your child’s needs. We work for your child and your family.

How much does this cost?

Because evey situation is different, we will contact you with details of our intial consultation which can be as long as you need to explain your situation.

We will always be transparent about fees and these will be explained to you once we have understood your particular circumstances.

What is a supplementary evidence report?

It’s a written report prepared to a professional standard, documenting our observations and understanding of your child’s behaviour, the contributing factors, and our recommendations for support. It can be used to inform decisions made by schools, local authorities or in legal proceedings, particularly where formal evidence of your child’s needs is required.

Are sessions online or face-to-face?

All sessions are held online. This makes it easier for families to access support without the added pressure of travel. We’ll send you a secure video link once arrangements are confirmed.
