Throughout Chloe’s life she had always felt ‘different’ to everybody around her as though her brain was less worthy compared to her friends and classmates.
She was bullied at school often getting called ‘weird,’ ‘strange’ or ‘incompetent’ which shattered her self-esteem, often feeling left out in groups and struggling to keep up with social interactions.
She found she didn’t like being touched, was always walking into things, sustaining numerous unexplained injuries, and was often described as a ‘day dreamer’ at school. She was also told she was too sensitive and overly emotional.
All classic ADHD and ASD but Chloe had no explanation for any of this at the time.
So Chloe developed masking techniques to seem ‘normal’ and become invisible to those who could hurt her for her differences.
Chloe now prides herself on being ‘different’ and although she has been through so many struggles, she is a firm believer in the capacity to get back up and be stronger than before.
This strong self-belief Chloe gives to her clients. She firmly believes everybody has the inner power and strength to heal in their unique and individual way.
Chloe loves to champion her clients and has felt an abundance of joy and pride watching her past clients grow into the happiest versions of themselves.
Chloe has much experience working with clients with ADHD, dyspraxia, suspected ASD, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, bereavement, work related issues and relationship problems. She works with passion to see you through any challenges you face.
Chloe only suspected she was ADHD and ASD when working with her very first ADHD client. It was the first time she had come across anybody who was vocally neurodivergent, and the best thing Chloe did was immerse herself in learning about ADHD. She kept reading books, listening to podcasts and watching YouTube videos about it until her whole life started to make sense.
Every class where the teacher has singled her out in front of the class for ‘being in fairy land’ when the teacher talked about something she really found boring (usually English). That time when Chloe was late to school and was made to stand in front of the whole class while she was told off for having ‘poor time management.’ All of that now made sense.
Not being able to keep up with conversations in a busy room, struggling with group activities because a) Chloe missed what the purpose of the task was and b) keeping up with the group in order to contribute anything of use. The ADHD and ASD explained this perfectly.
Even understanding herself, the adult struggles continued. Like feeling stressed around phones and when answering the phone forgetting everything that had been said before hanging up!
She still regularly puts the laundry in the machine and then completely forgets about it until days later when her husband casually mentions it!
Chloe has special interest in premenstrual disorders such as Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD), Premenstrual Exacerbation (PME), Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) and as she is diagnosed with PMDD she has spent years studying this area and produced a research paper for her counselling diploma. She is currently looking into the link between ADHD and PMDD and has an interest in how diet and nutrition plays its role too.
Chloe is deeply passionate about providing space for all Neurodivergent people to be who they truly are. She has spent most of her life feeling that her true potential was forever out of reach until she embarked on her counselling career. For the first time in her life, she feels a great sense of belonging and as though her life’s purpose has finally been found.
