DIAGNOSED DYSLEXIA & AWAITING ADHD DIAGNOSIS

LOCATION ~ SS0

Bex is passionate about nature, life-long learning and the arts. As a neurodivergent who is living with chronic illnesses, Bex understands the tensions between the mind and body, stress, the importance of pacing and the benefits of regularly connecting with nature.

Bex has an allotment – with accompanying hens – and grows a wide variety of food. This is a successful way of finding peace in nature and coping with sensory overload and stress.

Bex knew from a young age they felt different to other children. After coming out at 17 as LGBTQIA+, Bex was diagnosed with dyslexia whilst studying of all things – a languages degree!

Bex didn’t feel that dyslexia quite explained all of the challenges that kept cropping up in life: extreme fatigue, sensory processing issues, day dreaming, anxiety, hyperfocus and having more hobbies than anyone else!

Extensive reading and research on different conditions and Bex had the light bulb moment – ADHD fitted everything she was dealing with.

Before becoming a Transformational Earth Coach, Bex worked as a secondary school teacher, university tutor and academic researcher.

Bex’s chosen PhD (University of Nottingham) investigated how belonging is represented in cinema. Bex’s own fascination with this topic began when feeling they didn’t quite fit into society due to being neurodivergent, LGBTQIA and non-binary and feeling there were very few representations in media that reflected them.

In 2018 and 2019 Bex was diagnosed with two chronic illnesses that changed perspective on life forever. This totally re-evaluated understanding what success meant both for themselves and other people.

As a coach, Bex values the presence of the client and uses the coaching session for the client to explore their inner world. The coaching sessions are a healing and transformative space where clients can realise and come to terms with any blocks and also reassess boundaries, values and goals. Bex will help you explore areas of your life through art, music, poetry, photography or meditation & mindfulness.

Bex’s coaching style is very much based in existentialism – what it means to exist in this current world, mindfulness – being aware of where you are at in life and if you are judging yourself about your current life situation, permaculture – meeting human needs whilst developing ecologically harmonious, efficient and productive systems, the arts, and how to connect to the natural world.

This means that you can explore more freely, creatively and sustainably the areas that are important to you, such as self-acceptance, self-discovery and creative, therapeutic problem-solving. Coaching can be done via Zoom or in person, either indoors or outdoors.

Bex runs ‘Grow your own Mindfulness’ and meditation courses, as well as outdoor self-development workshops which she can utilise with clients one-to-one.

Over the past few years, Bex has become fascinated with the hugely positive impact decluttering and organisation of the home and workplace can have on the mind and body. If you are someone who is constantly losing things and spends way too much time looking; desperately wanting to organise your space so that everything has a home where it belongs; then Bex would very much like to help you. Decluttering and organisation mentoring can be done online or in person if you live within a commutable distance of any SS postcodes, RM11-RM20, CM2-CM4 or CM11-CM13.
