DIAGNOSED COMBINED ADHD
LOCATION ~ MK45
Aaron had until last year lived his whole life with undiagnosed ADHD and he has the diagnosis of the Combined type. He also has recently been diagnosed as Autistic and now defines himself as AuDHD and with that he finally understands why he had struggled so much growing up.
Aaron has persisted through years of professional counselling and psychological training and has learned through his own experiences what methods and lived experiences can help ADHD and ASD clients who are dealing with the same issues.
He took many different pathways to get to where he is now and fully understands how individual everyone’s support needs to be and with that draws on many different areas of psychological expertise in order to form routines and patterns for ADHD with the aim for them to be meaningful and sustainable.
Aaron has seen first-hand the psychological impact that can come from not being diagnosed early. In his own family he was often thought of as ‘misbehaving’, ‘naughty’, ‘loud’ and struggled hugely with his impulsivity as a child. He was brought up in a household with strong, regimented parenting and when Aaron couldn’t achieve the expected standards, he felt terrible guilt and shame that comes with RSD for many ADHD people.
As a teenager, he developed an interest in mental health, which eventually led him to train professionally. He is now a qualified Transpersonal Psychologist and an Integrative Counsellor where he works holistically.
Aaron has a lived experience of how it is to be ‘not understood’ in all aspects of his ADHD and ASD life. He empathises with the intense feelings this can bring as well as the consequences of those feelings to the person and others around them. He has experienced many of the typical AuDHD emotions; guilt, shame, anger, loss, RSD and the traumatic impact these can have on a person’s life. He understands the pain and loneliness which often goes alongside undiagnosed ADHD and ASD.
Aaron has managed to succeed through the issues of not being diagnosed until adulthood has brought. He is following his dreams by helping other ADHD people and is passionate about clients ‘finding their true selves’ – hearing and developing their inner voice which so often gets pushed down and ignored when trying to fit in with what society expects. Life can present as ableist and he approaches this concept in this therapeutic practice as part of being unstuck. He firmly believes there are no hurdles that cannot be overcome.
Aaron has experience of working with many different areas of trauma in therapy including purely ADHD related topics, physical and sexual abuse and impactful incidents. He has helped many clients with both therapeutic, behavioural and practical ways to feel in control of these experiences allowing them to regain control of their lives and view themselves as being capable instead of feeling stuck within their neurodiversity.
Aaron also studied Psychology to Masters level and undertakes use of advanced psychological concepts, theories and research. He is a member of The British Psychological Society and the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NPCS).
His use of transpersonal psychology and the spiritual is an aspect of this work that can be used for clients wanting to explore who they are and how they fit into the world, which commonly comes up with ADHD and ASD. Aaron uses this to explore the very essence of the meaning of their existence, questions such as “why do I exist?” or “why am I here” can be explored and the results can be very profound, illuminating and life changing for clients.
Aaron very much understands ADHD task and decision paralysis and works with clients to help them accept that sometimes ‘being stuck’ is okay and necessary before choosing the right path forwards which he believes is possible for all.
Aaron also has worked with couples & families in the past in order to work on conflicts and how to resolve them. The ‘stuckness’ between couples often causes friction and through strategies and by giving a space for both people to hear each other, couples and families can move towards a more harmonious and balanced relationship. Through family and individual therapy Aaron is also able to work with children from 10+ years and teenagers with their complex and overloaded lives and is able to support their development and understanding of their ADHD as well as themselves more deeply.
Overall, Aaron believes that every client – with the right support – can develop a sense of stability and find a way for their own self-soothing regardless of ADHD; it is a gift not an impediment despite challenges. And valuing your whole self is part of the process Aaron ensures his clients reach.

See what Aaron’s previous clients have said …
My adult son has been recently diagnosed with ADHD + ASD. He now needs some extra guidance and support with how his diagnoses impact, and have historically, his day to day living and the agency he has around them.
After just an initial discovery call he feels heard and understood by Aaron. He felt safe and sufficiently seen to have already been more open and honest with Aaron than with anyone he has spoken to previously.
He is now more optimistic for his future which is beyond what I could possibly have hoped for after such a short space of time. I can’t wait to see what they achieve together.
This is to extend a massive thank you and to offer a small update on the huge positive impact you have had on my life.
Mid August saw me completing the probation period in my job – a job I wouldn’t have applied for without your guidance refining my goals.
They have offered to fund my future learning, and I am aiming to specialise in Tax and Business Compliance.
In other news, I completed The Great North Run on Sunday just gone!
Again, I owe you the greatest of appreciation as if it were not for the mental resilience tools you helped me to pick up, I would have not gone through with the training nor the actual event.
Thank you again.
