The Creative & Calm Club
Mindful Makes for Busy Brains
About the Creative & Calm Club
Clarity through Creativity
Think of these creative ADHD & autism-friendly craft courses as the hands-on version of journaling.
Each grounding, 2-hour session, where focus meets flow, is designed to calm busy minds, unleash creativity and bring you clarity through creativity. Come and decompress, find stillness in motion in the comfort of your own home.
During the process, you can have a laugh, learn new skills and create magic. Come and create treasures you are proud of, gifts from your personal journey.
Inspired by the seasons, these practical projects follow English folk traditions and crafts throughout the year.
Each mindful session begins and ends with a short, guided meditation. Then Ruth will lead you through the makes, step by step.
While you are focusing on your crafts, background music will be played, so feel free to mute this if you would prefer to work in silence or play your own soothing music (we‘ll wave a sign when we’re ready to start the next step!)
These musical interludes will give some of you the chance for a one-to-one chat with Ruth in a breakout room if there’s something on your mind.

MEET YOUR COURSE TUTOR
Ruth is a passionate crafter! Her visceral need to craft is like your need to cough or sneeze. This lifelong love of creativity came from her Italian Mama and ‘finishing skills’ learned in a traditional English boarding school. Ruth was diagnosed with combined ADHD at the age of 52 and is still on the waiting list for her diagnosis of autism.
Ruth’s work is strongly influenced by nature, English crafts, history, myths and legends. Over 30 years, she has: baked biscuits and cakes, batch-cooked for her freezer, taught creative writing, decorated biscuits, made edible spa products from secret family recipes, decoratively embroidered, made gift hampers (sweets, biscuits, cakes, food, homeware and spa) handmade cards, floral arrangements, homeware, ornaments, pasta, patchwork, soft toys and sweets, hand-knitted complex patterns & jumpers, mindfully stitched, pickled and preserved and won competitions including prizes from the Women’s Institute!
Ruth was the Managing Director of Truly Sumptuous Ltd, an artisan ‘kitchen table’ business, specialising in creating handmade luxury spa products and gift hampers from edible ingredients. Spa products included bath bombs, bath milks, bath salts, bath oils, facial & skin oils, facial & skin scrub, lip balms. Cosy homemaking crafts included: potpourri, scented linen sachets, beeswax candles, bespoke cushion covers, and silk ribbons.
Ruth is passionate about bringing creative wellbeing to all. Life is gritty, most people are struggling financially, and joy is very hard to find. Creativity has been scientifically proven to boost motivation and improve mental and physical well-being.
