PROFILE

Sindy’s path to becoming a therapist has been anything but conventional – but it’s that very path that shaped the compassionate, determined and grounded practitioner she is today.

Growing up in a chaotic and emotionally neglectful environment, Sindy learned early on what it feels like to be overlooked and underestimated. School was her sanctuary – filled with friends, warm teachers, and (admittedly) a bit too much talking. She was working from a young age, often saying “yes” to jobs she’d never done before, and figuring things out on the fly with pure nerve and quick learning.

In her early 50’s, Sindy was formally diagnosed with ADHD – an insight that reframed much of her life. She’s also navigated dyspraxia-like challenges with her signature mix of humour and grit.

During the 2020 pandemic, when her roles as a nanny and SEN support worker paused, she took the leap into psychotherapy training – starting from Level 1 at Aylesbury College all the way to Level 5 at Oxford Brookes. Juggling study, work, and parenting wasn’t easy, but she did it – sometimes nearly ‘throwing her toys out of the pram,’ but always showing up.

During her training, Sindy was expected to do a placement, she chose to do this in a secondary school setting, working with students aged 11 to 18. What began as a required placement quickly grew into something far more meaningful – so much so that she chose to stay beyond her allocated hours.

Supporting teens through grief, anxiety, identity struggles, and trauma Sindy offered a rare outlet for honest, open expression. Whether through heartfelt conversations or gentle, game-based engagement, her approach was rooted in empathy and trust. She has a natural rapport with this age group and firmly believes in walking alongside young people with authenticity, presence and compassion.

Now a qualified integrative therapist, Sindy draws on person-centred, psychodynamic, CBT, DBT and Gestalt approaches. Her lived experience makes her especially attuned to the ADHD and neurodivergent community – she knows the weight of overwhelm, rejection sensitivity and the quiet burn of depression because she’s been there too.

Sindy is a proud mum to three adult children – two of whom also have ADHD – and a doting grandmother to several neurodivergent little dynamos.
